Project details:

  • Thermoelectric materials convert straight heat into electricity, and they are very promising in contributing to energy savings, decrease of the use of fossil fuels, powering autonomous sensors, etc. Nanostructured thermoelectric materials have lately materialized as an advanced technology with much higher performance and lower prices associated to existing bulk materials.
  • The program makes use of inverse design machine learning techniques to help the design of next-generation nanostructured thermoelectric materials. It will be associated with a larger effort within a European Research Council (ERC) financed project and will use electrothermal transport tools that will be developed within that project. This will be utilized within the Adaptive Sequential Monte Carlo (ASMC) scheme, which can provide parallelization in the optimization process.
